Privacy Policy

Effective Date:

CampusBudget ("CampusBudget," "we," "us," or "our") provides personal budgeting and financial organization tools through campus-budget.com (the "Service").

We recognize that financial information is sensitive. This Privacy Policy explains the information we collect, how we use it, when we disclose it, and the choices available to our users.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect information such as your name, email address, authentication information, account preferences, and student status information where applicable.

Financial Information You Provide

We store information you enter into CampusBudget, including budgets, spending categories, transactions, savings goals, upcoming expenses, and related financial records.

Connected Financial Account Information

If you choose to connect a financial institution through Plaid, we may receive authorized financial information such as institution names, account names and types, masked identifiers, transaction details, balances where supported, and connection status.

The information available depends on the financial institution, the Plaid products enabled, and the permissions granted during connection.

Connecting a financial institution is optional. Supported manual budgeting features remain available without connecting a bank.

Technical and Support Information

We and our service providers may process technical information necessary for authentication, security, troubleshooting, and operation of the Service. If you contact support, we may collect your email address and the information included in your message.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Create, authenticate, and maintain user accounts.
  • Provide budgeting, expense tracking, transaction management, and savings goal features.
  • Connect and synchronize authorized financial accounts.
  • Calculate spending summaries and budget progress.
  • Manage subscriptions where applicable.
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Maintain security, diagnose errors, and improve Service reliability.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Plaid and Financial Connections

CampusBudget uses Plaid to facilitate supported financial account connections.

When you choose to connect a financial institution, Plaid handles the connection and provides authorized information necessary for the features you select.

Your use of Plaid is also subject to its applicable privacy notices, available at https://plaid.com/legal/.

You can manage supported financial connections through CampusBudget's Connected Banks & Accounts settings.

Removing an institution deletes its stored CampusBudget connection, associated accounts, and their imported transactions. CampusBudget also requests disconnection through Plaid; if that request fails, local deletion may still proceed. Information independently retained by Plaid or your financial institution is subject to their own policies.

CampusBudget does not require you to connect a financial institution to use supported manual budgeting features.

4. How We Disclose Information

We disclose information to service providers when necessary to operate the Service, including:

  • Lovable Cloud and underlying hosting and database infrastructure.
  • Plaid for authorized financial connectivity.
  • Payment processors when paid subscriptions are enabled.
  • Email, support, security, and other operational service providers where used.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, protect against fraud or security threats, or in connection with a lawful business transfer.

We do not authorize service providers to use CampusBudget financial data for unrelated purposes except as permitted by applicable agreements and law.

5. Data Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal and financial information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

Users are responsible for protecting their account credentials and should contact us if they suspect unauthorized access.

6. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security, fulfill legitimate operational needs, comply with applicable legal requirements, and resolve disputes.

Different types of information may have different retention periods. Some records may remain in backups or be retained where required or permitted by law.

7. Your Privacy Choices

You can manage information through supported CampusBudget account features, including editing financial records, managing connected accounts, and requesting account deletion.

You may also contact support@campus-budget.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to applicable law.

We may verify your identity before fulfilling requests involving sensitive information.

Deleting your CampusBudget account or disconnecting a bank does not necessarily delete information independently maintained by financial institutions or third-party providers.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

CampusBudget uses browser storage and may use cookies to maintain authentication sessions, remember preferences, and support essential application functionality. Guest budgets are stored in the browser until saved to an account; clearing browser storage can remove unsaved guest data.

Any additional analytics or tracking technologies must be disclosed according to their actual use and applicable law.

9. Age Requirements

CampusBudget is intended for users aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly provide accounts to children under 13.

10. Third-Party Services

Certain features depend on third-party providers, including Plaid and financial institutions. Their independent privacy practices may be governed by their own policies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Service, our practices, or applicable legal requirements.

We will provide notice of material changes where appropriate or legally required. The latest version will be available at https://campus-budget.com/privacy.
